Surrounded by architects and urban planners since my early childhood, I have always used the diagram to explain, understand, and direct my thoughts and projects in space and time. The diagram rejects any formal distinction between content and expression; it is, so to speak, a blind and silent machine, yet at the origin of gaze and discourse. It extracts qualities and connections from an arrangement of the world, which can then be recognized in other forms.
